Quickshot

Knowing how to safely handle and fire a gun is a skill every man should know – even if shooting isn’t your preferred hobby. Unfortunately, living in a large urban area doesn’t afford as many opportunities for developing this skill as, say, a rural country lifestyle.

Fortunately for city-dwelling Atlantans, shooting range Quickshot offers a solution.

Opened by father-son duo Mike and Tyler Perkins, Quickshot is only indoor shooting range inside the perimeter, and the business reflects its unique location. It is housed in a modern space, features sleek furniture, host art shows, draws professional clientele and is just 50 yards from top Atlanta culinary spot, Floataway Café.

Quickshot also prides itself on welcoming the beginner and enthusiast alike. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, eschewing the insider attitude that sometimes surfaces at clubby shops and enthusiast ranges. Along with their classes, which include a beginners “101,” individual on-range coaching, and advanced marksmanship with a resident pro, they even offer a Thursday date-night where $30 gets you an hour of range time, a rental gun and eye/ear protection (you just need ammo and a target) for you and your significant other.

The space boasts 14 lanes – seven 50 ft and seven 75 ft – all heated/cooled and hepa-filtered; each utilizing individual mechanized target retrieval systems. Their rental guns include a handful of fully automatic rifles (AR-15 & AK-47), a shotgun, some semi-auto rifles and a plethora of handguns (centerfire pistols, rimfire pistols, and revolvers) in all the major calibers so you can practice with your favorite, or test a new one you’re considering for purchase.

An hour on the range is $16, normal gun rental is $15 – and you can swap it out at any point for a different model – full autos are $30 (non-swappable), and they sell ammo/targets, and rent eye/ear protection, onsite. Annual memberships run $425 for which you receive unlimited range time for you and a guest, complimentary use of guns (except full auto) and free eye/ear protection.

While Quickshot does not sell guns, they will accept FFL transfers ($20 for members and $40 for non-members) should you find your next piece online.
