Bookhouse Pub

When you find The Bookhouse Pub you’ll be pleased to discover that the inside has a strikingly different vibe than the strip-mall exterior tucked away off Ponce. Low lighting, dark wood carvings, stained glass, and a shelf of books give this small space the character you want in a pub.
Brought to you by the guys behind MJQ, there’s an eccentric ambiance to this neighborhood joint. The literary theme is actually a nod to “Twin Peaks” and the secret society in the show known as The Bookhouse Boys. We’ve been here many times for the good beer selection and laid-back setting, but we’ve yet to try the food. The menu leans toward Southern comfort food (smoked trout mac and cheese) with ventures into the gourmet (seared duck breast on risotto).
The chef, Julia LeRoy, worked for the famed Guenter Seeger and at the Ritz so she brings some culinary credibility, along with a unique twist on funnel cake. Also, don’t miss the back patio on a nice night. The kitchen is open 5 p.m. to midnight every day and the bar stays open until 2 a.m. Tuesday – Saturday. Bookhouse
