Nathan Angelo

these old keys_cover_itunesAtlanta-based performer Nathan Angelo may not be from the south, but he’s quickly making a home among the region’s most promising singer-songwriters. Following his debut release “Through Playing Me” (2006) is this year’s five-track EP, “These Ol’ Keys”–a title that pays homage to Angelo’s lifelong affair with ivory, the driving force behind his soulful, vibrant sound: the piano.

Hopeful, energetic, humorous–these all describe Angelo’s memorable tunes (see “Brighter Day” or “I Need a Woman”). But there’s more here than high energy and hooky songcraft. In the right moments, Angelo lends his voice to deeper, reflective songs like the wistful title track, or the plaintive “Song for a Friend,” but not without restraint.

If you like your music with bravado and great showmanship, bring a date to Nathan Angelo’s CD release party at Smith’s Olde Bar, November 6th at 8:00 p.m., or purchase a digital copy of “These Ol’ Keys” on iTunesNathanAngelo.com
