Orlebar Brown Swim Shorts

Alas, the end of summer is upon us and we just discovered Orlebar Brown.

Nevertheless, when you find a decent pair of swim shorts it’s not too late to take note. These days it seems a man’s options are limited to board shorts that are so long they look like womens’ capris, brash patterns or outdoor brands that while dependable, lack shape and individuality. So, leave it to the British to remind us of the origins of fine tailoring. Orlebar offers four smart options to match your own style and fit – Setter (swim short), Bulldog (beach short), Dane (board short) and Beagle (surf short).

Made of a quick drying cotton/polyamide fabric, the shorts include the finer details often overlooked in the disregarded American swimsuit sector – zipper flys, snapfronts, and engraved side buckles for easy, on-the-fly adjustments. However, above all, they are sharp, well cut and work for the water, the beach or the poolside grill.

The only downside to the Orlebars are their price. The UK connection hurts us here, taking the 120€ shorts and making them $205. Though, when donning only one piece of clothing, you better make it count.
