When friends ask us for recommendations on date spots, there’s one that’s frequently on the top of the list; Murphy’s Tuesday night wine tastings.

Murphy’s is the quintessential, neighborhood restaurant. The Atlanta classic requires a visit at least once a year, especially for their terrific weekend brunch. It’s a great date option for dinner anytime, but on Tuesday nights you also get an educational experience from a sommelier or wine enthusiast. Your wine guide will lead you and a small group of other amateur oenophiles through a themed tasting. Upcoming features include; Thunder from Down Under (Australian wines), Alsace (wines from that shared region of Germany and France), BBQ wines (wines that pair well with pork), and Pinot Planet (tasting of California Pinots).

The fee is $20 a head for 8 pours but Murphy’s offers a $5 credit off any entree that is $11 or more, allowing you to round out the experience with fare that complements the wine.
