Serpas Restaurant

After a few years as the chef at Two Urban Licks, Scott Serpas has opened his own place, bringing his native Louisiana influence to a modern American menu.

He uses the descriptor “true food” which could mean a lot of things, but our translation is that Serpas serves innovative comfort food that tastes good.

Flash-fried oysters is already the signature dish (deservedly so), but the scallops and calamari were a few other favorites we would order again.

Housed in another converted industrial warehouse with exposed brick and polished concrete floors, the space has an open, loft feel that matches its Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Attentive staff, a decent outdoor patio and a bar with its own cool vibe add to the Serpas experience. Dinner runs about $25.
